Free Workshop Will Explore Tools to Manage Everyday Stress

Ellsworth, Maine – Healthy Acadia invites community members to participate in a free virtual wellness workshop, “The way of being: How we can stay centered, focused, and be the calm center amidst the storms of life,” on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 5 to 6 p.m., via Zoom. The event, part of Healthy Acadia’s Monthly Mindfulness series, will feature special guest Tom Speare of Tenth Gate Center for Yoga and Meditation.

In today’s busy world, it’s possible to handle stress, challenges, and overload with more calm and focus. In this session, Speare will share simple techniques and practices that can quickly help you feel more centered and at ease. These tools are easy to use and can make a big difference in lowering stress and anxiety. When you remember to use them, you can feel better, think more clearly, and get more done. This class offers helpful skills you can use every day and serves as a much-needed resource for our times.

Tom Speare is Director of Corporate and Educational Programs at the Tenth Gate Center For Yoga and Meditation in Bar Harbor, ME. He is a certified Kundalini Yoga and Meditation Teacher at the E-RYT500 level, and has been teaching yoga, stress management, mindfulness, and meditation since 2007. Tom also leads the Tools For Today and Tomorrow Program, launched in 2013, providing stress reduction courses to schools, municipalities, and corporate workplaces across New England and beyond, including extensive work with elite military veterans to overcome PTSD and trauma challenges.

Tom and his wife relocated to Bar Harbor in 2022 after many decades of visiting MDI.
