Maine Recovery Core Internship Opportunities
Maine Recovery Core is a paid internship program, and we are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join the team! This position is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in and wanting to enter the behavioral health field or give back to their community.
Maine Recovery Core Interns are trained recovery coaches who support affected others and those seeking or currently in recovery. They work closely within their community to provide the support and resources people need to help themselves become healthier.
Maine Recovery Core, one of Healthy Acadia's many initiatives, is a rewarding experience built to help interns achieve professional goals by providing them with the tools needed to succeed. Organizations in ten counties across northern and eastern Maine serve as host sites for one or more Recovery Core interns who support clients within the service area of the host site. Host sites include healthcare, law enforcement, correctional facilities, community organizations, and others. Recovery Core interns are trained as recovery coaches to support individuals at various points along the recovery path and in multiple settings.
Interns are provided with guidance, mentoring, support, professional development, public health experience, workplace immersion, skill building, and peer support.
Maine Recovery Core interns offer direct peer support with the aim of improving recovery success among individuals facing substance use disorders. In addition, interns build community awareness through outreach and education and develop local and regional recovery resources.
