Sandy Fortin to Lead Let's Go! 5210 Programming
Please join us in welcoming Sandy Fortin to the Healthy Acadia team!
Sandra Claire Fortin joins us as Let's Go! 5210 Program Coordinator. Sandy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Health, Hospitality, and Tourism from Husson University and is a Certified Forest Therapy Guide and Reiki Master. She has worked in one or more of these capacities to support schools, businesses, and organizations across eastern Maine.
Sandy, what prompted you to join the Healthy Acadia team?
I was excited to join this amazing team, working with wellness warriors passionate about creating healthy communities.
What inspires you most about Healthy Acadia's work?
Healthy Acadia's work inspires me most because of their web of interconnected services, expertise and diversity of socio-economic and geographic reach.
What inspires you on a personal level?
In my new role, I am most inspired to be working with children and their caregivers/teachers again. Children are such a precious gift and I am honored to be part of their journey.
What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?
Downeast is home for me! Where the mountains meet the ocean and the air is a delicious blend of salt water and evergreen essence. Being present in nature along the coast is rejuvenating!
Sandy is a resident of Winter Harbor and has volunteered for regional community organizations and municipalities, including Acadian Community Women's Club; and Garden Committee, Recreation Committee, and Comprehensive Planning Committee with Town of Winter Harbor. She is Founder/Executive Director of an Alternative Wellness Center Pilot Program with Green Gem Holistic Healing Oasis, Vice President of Schoodic Area Chamber of Commerce, and provides Mindful Nature Walks for Veterans in Acadia National Park.
Sandy enjoys bicycling, sailing, hiking, skiing, dancing, gardening, wandering in the woods, wine tasting, learning new tricks, yoga, Zumba, meditation, birding, farmers markets, native plant rescuer, collector of native granite, and random acts of kindness. She is very proud of her two daughters, who are now living in Colorado and following wellness-related careers.
On Sandy's bucket list: Travel internationally - to France, Ireland, Bali, India, Chili, and/or Australia. Building a Treehouse (tiny house) to live in with a view of the ocean and add a zip-line to the main house. Refurbish a 1950's Flxible Bus as my Mobile Wellness Office, name her Mertle the Sea Turtle and roadtrip with her. Achieve the Boston Post Cane Award, like my grandmother did, and live in place until then. Leave this world a better place then when I arrived!
