Two Tai Chi Workshops With Dr. Paul Lam Coming to Ellsworth in April 2026

ELLSWORTH, Maine - Healthy Acadia will host two in-person tai chi workshops in April 2026, led by internationally recognized tai chi teacher Dr. Paul Lam and the Tai Chi for Health Institute. The workshops will take place on April 11 and 12 at Healthy Acadia, 77 Beechland Road, and are now open for registration.

Tai chi is a gentle, evidence-based practice that supports balance, strength, flexibility, and overall well-being. Dr. Lam’s programs are used worldwide and are widely recommended by health organizations for their physical and mental health benefits.

Both workshops are designed for participants who already have some familiarity with the respective tai chi programs and are looking to deepen their practice. Attendance is in person, with opportunities for small-group learning and individualized guidance.

The first workshop, Explore the Depth of Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention, will be held on Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants will deepen their understanding of tai chi principles while refining movements designed to improve balance, joint health, and confidence in daily activities. Teaching will include a live online presentation by Dr. Lam, broadcast from Sydney, Australia, combined with in-person instruction and guided practice led by Tai Chi for Health Institute-trained Master and Senior instructors.

Early-bird registration through Feb. 28 is $295; regular registration from March 1 onward is $350. Non-refundable booking and processing fees apply. Participants must have learned the Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention set and be able to perform it from memory prior to the workshop. If participants have not yet learned the form, they are encouraged to use instructional materials such as online lessons or DVDs before attending.

Participants will explore deeper applications of the forms, including posture, flow and internal principles that support both health and mindfulness.

Early-bird registration through Feb. 28 is $295; regular registration from March 1 onward is $350. A combined-workshop discount code good for $50 off the April 12 workshop will be sent after registering for the April 11 workshop, if booked first.
