Savoring Stillness: The Art of Mindful Eating in Ayurveda
Maine – Healthy Acadia invites community members to join the next session of its Monthly Mindfulness series, “Savoring Stillness: The Art of Mindful Eating in Ayurveda,” featuring Erik Jackson, on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, from 5 to 6 p.m. via Zoom. This free, virtual program will explore how presence, awareness, and gratitude can transform eating into a daily meditation and a meaningful act of self-care.
Through an Ayurvedic lens, mindful eating is more than slowing down — it’s a way to harmonize the senses, awaken digestion (Agni), and deepen our relationship with food as nourishment and medicine. Participants will learn foundational principles of Ayurvedic eating, including the six tastes, simple mealtime rituals, and how emotional and sensory awareness influence gut health and overall well-being. The discussion offers an opportunity to reconnect with food as a practice of grounding and inner stillness.
The session will be led by Erik Jackson, an accredited Ayurvedic Health Counselor trained at the Kripalu School of Ayurveda. Jackson is a certified yoga teacher who has taught throughout North America and Thailand. Now based in Ellsworth, he collaborates with the Sanctuary on Church Street and Steamy Buddha Yoga, and teaches mindfulness, yoga, meditation, and breathwork at local recovery centers and the Waldo County Jail’s Reentry program. His Ayurvedic work focuses on supporting gut and mental health, improving sleep, and helping individuals cultivate accessible, nourishing daily habits.
This online workshop is open to all, and no prior experience with mindfulness or Ayurveda is required.
Pre-registration is required to receive the Zoom link for this free event. To register, please visit bit.ly/mindful-010626.
