Register Now for Healthy Acadia’s Eight-Week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course

Maine. - Healthy Acadia is pleased to announce a new session of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), an eight-week, evidence-based program designed to help participants reduce stress, build self-awareness, and support overall well-being.

The course will be held virtually via Zoom on Tuesdays, Jan. 13 through March 10, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The program also includes a Full Day of Mindfulness, scheduled with input from participants.

Developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, MBSR is a well-established program that combines mindfulness meditation with gentle movement. The curriculum helps participants meet stress, pain, and challenges with greater clarity and resilience. Through practices that cultivate present-moment awareness, individuals learn to interrupt automatic reactions, respond to difficulties with more balance, and foster a deeper sense of ease and well-being. The program is widely used in healthcare, education, and community settings and is appropriate for adults of all experience levels.

Participants will begin with an orientation session before moving into the full course. Whether someone is new to mindfulness or looking to deepen an existing practice, MBSR offers accessible, practical tools to support everyday well-being. The class will be facilitated by Healthy Acadia’s Sonya Connelly, a certified Level 1 MBSR teacher.

The cost of the program is $50. Financial assistance is available for anyone for whom cost is a barrier. Healthy Acadia is committed to ensuring that mindfulness-based resources remain accessible to all community members.
