Youth Recovery Coach Summer Sessions Offer Connection, Support and Fun in Calais

This summer, Healthy Acadia’s Youth Recovery Coaches are creating welcoming spaces where young people ages 14–21 can connect, build relationships, have fun, and access support at their own pace.

Youth are invited to join weekly summer sessions on Thursdays and Fridays in Calais. Each session offers a different way to connect, with opportunities to spend time with peers, talk with Recovery Coaches, participate in activities, and explore topics related to recovery and healthy decision-making.

Thursdays, 12–3 p.m. | Healthy Acadia Calais Office, 295 North St.

Thursday sessions offer a relaxed, drop-in environment where youth can hang out, connect with peers, and build relationships with multiple Youth Recovery Coaches. One-on-one support is available for those who would like it, but there is no pressure to participate in any particular way.

The goal is to provide a safe, welcoming space where young people can feel comfortable, connect with others, and access support at their own pace.

Fridays, 12–3 p.m. | Calais Recreation Center, 7 Academy St.

Friday sessions are more activity-based, combining physical activities and games with recovery-focused conversations and skill-building.

For example, a recent volleyball game challenged participants to share a value important to them each time their team scored. After the game, the group participated in a "values auction," using an imaginary budget to bid on the values they considered most important. The activity sparked meaningful conversations about what people prioritize, why certain values matter most to them, and how personal values can influence recovery and everyday decision-making.

By starting with an experience and then using it to guide conversation, Youth Recovery Coaches help make recovery discussions engaging, relatable and relevant to young people's lives.

Whether youth are looking for support, connection, a place to spend time with peers or simply something fun to do, these summer sessions offer a welcoming space to show up, be themselves and take part at their own pace.

Youth ages 14–21 are welcome to drop in. No registration is required.
