Norman, what prompted you to join the Healthy Acadia team?

I served 30 years straight at The Maine State Prison. Once released, I was faced with many challenges - so much had changed. I founded Helping Incarcerated Individuals Transition (H.I.I.T) to assist others in their transition. It was through this work that I learned about the Recovery Core internship program.

What most inspires you about Healthy Acadia's work?

The ability to coach those in need with issues. I love that I feel a part of a larger family (Healthy Acadia) that runs to the fire to help those in needs and not turn and run at the sign of trouble!

What most inspires you on a personal level?

My 30 acres and my numerous animals who will live out their lives in safety.

What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?

Walking the mile long trek on the breakwater to visit the lighthouse at the point of the mile long trek. Taking videos and photos, because as we all know unless it is documented it never happened.

Norman serves as the editor of the H.I.I.T. newsletter, which in circulated electronically - to tablets and cellphones - throughout The Maine State Prison in Warren, Maine, and beyond. If you is interested in receiving the H.I.I.T newsletter, please contact Norman at 207-323-6260 or by email.
