Welcome, Derrick Maxie
Please join us in welcoming Derrick Maxie to the Healthy Acadia team!
Derrick joins our Emergency Housing Supports Team as support staff for our seasonal overnight warming center, located at Healthy Acadia’s INSPIRE Community Recovery Center in Ellsworth.
Support staff at the seasonal overnight warming center provide a warm and welcoming place for guests and connect them to additional community resources such as food pantries, recovery coaching, warm clothing, and other social supports. Our team supports people by building trust, listening, and collaborating with partners.
Derrick currently resides in Ellsworth and serves as chair for NA/AA and recovery meetings.

Helping others!
What most inspires you on a personal level?
I am passionate about giving back to the vulnerable communities. Being able to provide a safe space for folks who need it the most, and being able to provide a resource to remove a barrier can make such a difference in someone's life - and that is what inspires me.
What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?
I enjoy hunting, hiking, fishing - being outside and surrounded by nature.
