Welcome, Brittawny Jordan
Please join us in welcoming Brittawny Jordan to the Healthy Acadia team!
Brittawny joins our Emergency Housing Supports Team as support staff for our seasonal overnight warming center, located at Healthy Acadia’s INSPIRE Recovery Community Center in Ellsworth.
Support staff at the seasonal overnight warming center provide a warm and welcoming place for guests and connect them to additional community resources such as food pantries, recovery coaching, warm clothing, and other social supports. Our team supports people by building trust, listening, and collaborating with community partners.
Brittawny, what prompted you to join the Healthy Acadia team?
I care about our beautiful community so much!
What most inspires you about Healthy Acadia's work?
What INSPIRE does for this community is truly amazing. I've been interested in helping others & being a part of something bigger, like this, for a long time now. I am and have been homeless (by choice), and with my experiences in life, I hope I can connect & relate more to the people that come to INSPIRE!
What most inspires you on a personal level?
My past relations to homelessness, addiction and trauma.
What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?
The ocean! I dig blood worms on Jordan River in Lamoine & it's absolutely freeing & beautiful! I am inspired by my faith in God, my church, family, friends, animals, nature, music, food! I enjoy randomly giving to people with the help of my church, Lamoine Baptist Church.
