Traveling Rainbow Youth Facilitator Opportunity

Downeast Rainbow Alliance and Healthy Acadia are seeking a Traveling Rainbow Youth Facilitator to support our direct work with LGBTQ2IA+ youth in Washington County/Passamaquoddy Territory. The ideal candidate will be a near-peer (ages 18-25) with lived experience that can hold and support existing spaces where young people show up.

The Youth Facilitator will support the following programs:

The Downeast Rainbow Discord Server. This server is for LGBTQ2IA+ teens and allies in Washington County/Passamaquoddy Territory (and a few beyond). This is a very active server and youth are very engaged. The youth facilitator will provide support for server users and youth facilitators.

The Traveling Rainbow Project. An interactive display that travels to schools and community organizations and events in Washington County, Hancock County & Passamaquoddy Territory. The Traveling Rainbow provides the following free services:

  • Identity Affirming Displays and/or lending libraries

  • Arts programming

  • Traveling Rainbow exhibits, presentations and events tabling


    The Traveling Rainbow has visited seven high schools in Washington County this year to date, as well as four community events. The Youth Facilitator will continue to support this project and work to bring it to more schools, community spaces, and other venues.

    Additional responsibilities may include attending Downeast Rainbow Alliance meetings and other community connection and educational events, planning Downeast Pride, supporting art workshops with the Tides Institute, and social media support.

    This is a 10-hours/week position, pay rate is $16 per hour.
