Healthy Acadia to Offer Free Tai Chi for Heart Health Classes in Alexander
ALEXANDER, Maine — Healthy Acadia will offer a free, eight-week Tai Chi for Heart Health class on Sundays, Nov. 9 through Dec. 28, 2025, at Alexander Elementary School, 1430 Airline Road, Alexander. Classes will meet from 3 to 4 p.m. in the school gymnasium.
Tai Chi for Health, often described as “meditation in motion,” combines gentle, flowing movements with mindful breathing. Regular practice can enhance balance, flexibility, and cognitive function while reducing stress, lowering blood pressure, boosting immune health, and easing chronic pain and inflammation.
Developed by the Tai Chi for Health Institute (TCHI), the program was designed to provide health benefits quickly and safely for people with a variety of conditions. It is suitable for individuals of all ages and physical abilities.
Classes will be led by Tai Chi for Health Instructor Chanise Provencher. Everyone is welcome to join. Participants are encouraged to wear loose, comfortable clothing and thin-soled or other supportive, closed-toe shoes.
Pre-registration is recommended but not required. To register, visit bit.ly/ha-tai-chi or contact Nina Zeldin at 207-479-1206 or nina@healthyacadia.org.
This program is sponsored in part by the National Cardiovascular Health Program, cooperative agreement CDC-RFA-23-0004.
Healthy Acadia offers a full schedule of in-person, virtual, and hybrid Tai Chi for Health classes throughout the year. While classes are free, donations are suggested and appreciated. To learn more or register for upcoming sessions, visit bit.ly/ha-tai-chi.
