Juneteenth Downeast Presents "Weekend on the Water" for BIPOC Community
Juneteenth Downeast recently announced their upcoming 2024 "Weekend on the Water," a special outdoor gathering for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and blended families. This event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, September 14 and 15, at the beautiful Echo Lake Camp on Mount Desert Island.
This weekend event offers a variety of activities, including camping, sailing, fishing, swimming, hiking, birding, kayaking, saltwater skiff trips, starwatching, music, and community connection. All meals, tents with cots, and outdoor gear will be provided, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all participants. Best of all, the event is free!
From the Juneteenth Downeast webpage:
"As we work to heal, uplift, and reenergize BIPOC members of the community, we have found nature to be a profound source of renewal, joy, and connection. 'Weekend on the Water' was created to provide opportunities for BIPOC people to engage and explore together in the outdoors. We hope this event helps reconnect us with nature and each other."
Join Juneteenth Downeast for a weekend of fun, relaxation, and community at Echo Lake Camp. Whether you're coming for the entire weekend or just for a day, they look forward to sharing this special experience with you.
