INSPIRE Recovery Center Host New Programs and Activities in November

We are excited to share our November program and activity calendar for our INSPIRE Recovery Center at 24 Church Street, Ellsworth. Many any new offerings have been added for interested community members, including a Lyme Disease Support Group, Cooking Matters: Pop-Up Grocery Store Tour,* and National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) services for healthcare professionals.**  These activities and events are being offered in addition to our current programs.  For a complete calendar, click here or visit the INSPIRE Facebook page.

The INSPIRE team wrapped an activity-packed October with smiles and sweet treats. Tracy Crossman and Kristé Sprague represented INSPIRE Recovery Center at the Downeast Family YMCA Trunk or Treat in Ellsworth on Halloween, greeting a steady line of trick or treaters throughout the event. Their presence not only brought smiles to the faces of kids in the community but also helped to spread the word about the Center and the many resources offered for community members.

Do you offer a program or service that supports or benefits the health and wellbeing of community members, or would you like to serve as an INSPIRE volunteer during Center hours (We’re open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.)? Please be in touch!

Our INSPIRE welcomes inquiries from community members and organizations interested in providing program opportunities at the center.  If you would like to volunteer to teach a knitting class, host a support meeting, assist with childcare while recoverees attend programs, or even a doodling session, contact Beth Alteri at beth.alteri@healthyacadia.org or call (207) 412-2288.

*INSPIRE Recovery Center will be hosting a Cooking Matters: Pop-Up Grocery Store Tour on November 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

WIth the cost of groceries on the rise, it can be difficult to purchase healthy food on a budget.  In this hour and a half long training, Healthy Acadia Maine SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educator Despe Lebel, will be doing a tour of one of Ellsworth’s local grocery stores to share information to make shopping healthy on a budget easier.  Everyone who participates will get a $10 grocery gift card to practice their skills!  This an in-person event.

**INSPIRE Recovery Center is hosting members of the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association to offer acupuncture to members of the healthcare community. The sessions are for healthcare professionals. The hope is that through providing the services to these healthcare professionals, they will see the potential it has to help those in recovery and be able to spread the word about it and possibly become certified to do it in the future. To register for a session, please complete and submit the Google Form. Healthcare professionals eligible for the free training:

Certified Alcohol and drug counselor or licensed alcohol and drug counselor, physician or physician assistant, nurse or nurse practitioner, professional counselor or clinical professional counselor, psychologist, licensed social worker, conditional licensed social worker, licensed clinical social worker, or licensed master social worker.

NADA members will also be offering an acupressure demonstration on December 7, 2021. This demonstration will be for healthcare professionals and recovery coaches. Acupressure uses beads rather than needles for the therapy. For more information on the December 7 session, please contact Tracy Crossman at tracy.crossman@healthyacadia.org or Beth at beth.alteri@healthyacadia.org
