InsideOut Exhibit Comes to INSPIRE

InsideOut, a traveling art show featuring original drawings, paintings, and sketches by former residents of the Hancock County Jail, is currently on display at Healthy Acadia’s newly-opened INSPIRE Recovery Center, located at 24 Church Street in Ellsworth.

This is the fourth stop for the show, which was previously hosted by the Friend Library in Brooklin, Dorcas Library in Prospect Harbor, and the Blue Hill Co-op, and features original artwork by participants in the, “Art…Write…Now!” program. The innovative art and writing program provided an opportunity for residents to express themselves through drawing, painting, and creative writing.

Through the project, RSU 24 Adult Education Instructors Jean Hylan and Phil Wormuth met weekly with individuals at the Hancock County Jail in 2018-2019 to facilitate creative expression through art and writing. The program has received additional funding support from the Maine Arts Commission and the Maine Humanities Council to create a traveling art exhibit to share their work.

The works will be on display at INSPIRE throughout the winter. The Center is open to the public Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please note, in accordance with current CDC recommendations, masks are required inside the building, regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status.

For more information, contact Phil Wormuth at (207) 422-4794 or pwormuth@rsu24.org.
