Happy Trails to Allie Cook
All of us at Healthy Acadia would like to wish Allie Cook, Maine SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educator in Washington County, the very best on her next adventure!
Allie joined the Healthy Acadia team in the spring of 2019 after serving as a FoodCorps Service Member at Indian Township School. She brought incredible energy and enthusiasm to the role, and quickly won over the hearts of hundreds of children from Calais to Lubec and beyond, all while helping them to try new fruits and vegetables each month. When COVID hit less than a year into her time here, Allie never missed a beat. She helped lead our SNAP-Ed team to adapt to online teaching, and adopted the mantra “the plan is no plan” to help all of us roll with the punches.
In addition to her incredible work teaching children and adults all about healthy eating on a budget, Allie has also been a leader around racial equity and staff wellness at Healthy Acadia. A founding member of our Health and Racial Equity Team, Allie brought her passion for justice to the team. We are grateful for her leadership and willingness to step up to help move this important work forward within our organization and our communities. Allie has also been an integral member of our Working On Wellness (WOW) Team. We will miss her cheerleading and encouragement to stay active while at work and at home!
Allie is embarking on an incredible journey - she is going to hike the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Katahdin solo! This is a long-time dream of hers that she is making come true. We can’t wait to follow her adventures on Instagram (@confusedballplayer) and see what the future holds for her - congrats and best wishes, Allie!
