Downeast Partnerships for Success Kicks Off Third Year
Healthy Acadia is thrilled to kick off year three of our Downeast Partnerships for Success Initiative with mini-grants to 17 new and continuing partners who will implement an array of projects and provide much-needed prosocial activities and mental health support for area youth.
Blue Hill Consolidated School will launch an after-school club focused on engaging students in grades 5-8 in real life, hands-on building projects with a focus on team dynamics and mental health.
Other groups working on developing and/or enhancing their after-school program offerings include:
Maine Academy of Modern Music in partnership with Maine Seacoast Mission’s EdGE Program
Downeast Lakes Land Trust
Princeton Elementary School
The Town of Cherryfield Recreation Committee will be enhancing community outdoor recreation facilities.
Downeast Rainbow Alliance is continuing to provide a “Traveling Rainbow” of information and resources to the community, as well as support groups.
Washington Academy will expand their Sources of Strength program and a recently implemented REAL (Raider Everyday Applied Learning) program. The Sources of Strength program utilizes peer leaders in a proactive way to share their own story of Strength to influence and impact other students in the school to engage in positive prosocial behavior.
Sedgwick Elementary School will be creating outside-the-classroom integrated project-based learning for students in grades 3-8 with focus on their greenhouse.
Camp Beech Cliff will integrate additional Mental, Emotional and Social Health supports into their summer youth program offerings.
Women for Healthy Rural Living and Downeast Coastal Conservancy will be expanding upon their summer programming launched last year with PFS funding.
Cobscook Institute and Downeast Institute will continue to build on their after-school and summer program offerings for area youth.
Sumner Memorial High School will launch after-school activities for youth, parents, and teachers.
Milbridge Public Library will continue to offer online gaming time as well as in-person gaming nights for area youth.
Touch the Sky Foundation will launch a youth mentorship program, “Weaving Connections.”
We are so excited to partner with these incredible community organizations in implementing projects that provide highly impactful opportunities for youth and families across our region.
