Celebrate World Tai Chi & Qigong Day with Healthy Acadia
Healthy Acadia invites community members of all ages and abilities to take part in 2026 World Tai Chi & Qigong Day: One World…One Breath, on Saturday, April 25, at our office located at 77 Beechland Road in Ellsworth. This welcoming community event offers an opportunity to move, connect, and join millions of people around the world in a shared celebration of health and well-being.
For more than 20 years, people in hundreds of cities across more than 70 countries have gathered on the last Saturday of April at 10 a.m. local time to practice tai chi and qigong together. These events create a global circle of healing that brings people together across cultures, backgrounds, and communities. Learn more at World Tai Chi Day.
What Is Tai Chi?
Tai chi is a gentle form of movement sometimes described as “meditation in motion.” Through slow, flowing movements and focused breathing, participants can improve balance, flexibility, strength, and relaxation.
Research continues to show that tai chi supports both physical and mental health. According to Harvard Health Publishing, tai chi has been called “moving meditation” because of its benefits for a wide range of health conditions. Regular practice may help improve immune and cognitive function, reduce stress, anxiety, and pain, and support overall wellness.
