Call To Action - Help Us Build the Recovery Resource Fund

Why Support the Recovery Resource Fund?

In early recovery, people are struggling to rebuild their lives, and a seemingly minor challenge can put their recovery in jeopardy. Something that meets a basic need or keeps a person employed, such as a gas or grocery card, payment of an overdue phone bill, or help with a car repair, can be the difference between someone staying in recovery or not.

Lucian*

Lucian recently got out of treatment for substance use disorder and got his first apartment on his own. With support through the Recovery Resource Fund, he was able to get plates, cups, silverware, towels and other necessities. Lucian met regularly with his Healthy Acadia recovery coach, who shared “He was so proud to be living on his own with things that belonged to him.”

Jamian*

Jamian had worked hard and used every penny he earned to get his truck. The problem was that he had no money left for tires. With support through the Recovery Resource Fund, he was able to get tires, which made it possible for him to both get to work and to visit his children - a top priority for Jamian. “He was very thankful,” shared the Recovery Coach who works with Jamian.

Barrier removal is a nationally-recognized best practice for supporting recovery from substance use disorder. The Recovery Resource Fund removes barriers to recovery by directly paying for items or services that support individuals in their recovery journeys.

Our network of Recovery Coaches is able to identify these barriers as they arise, and the Recovery Resource Fund is accessed on a case-by-case basis. For information on receiving support through the Recovery Resource Fund, click here.

Audra

“I decided to become a recovery coach because I want to help people. I've been witness to and impacted by addiction from the day that I was born. I want to help people see that they are worthy of a happy life and are valued by people in the world around them. I want to be a part of a solution.”

Katie

“We had a resident that was able access a gas card [through the Recovery Resource Fund] to help secure her a ride to Safe Harbor. That gift card helped someone get to safe housing and all the supports that come with it!”

The Recovery Resource Fund is available on a case-by-case basis to community members working with a Healthy Acadia recovery coach.

Jasmine*

Here’s just one example of how community support - your support - makes a BIG difference:

The Recovery Resource Fund paid for a new pair of glasses for a woman in recovery named Jasmine. Her Healthy Acadia Recovery Coach shared, “Jasmine was without glasses for several weeks, making her job and home life more difficult. When I called to tell her that she could pick up her glasses, the excitement and relief in her voice was moving. Being able to take one thing off of her plate was so powerful.”

Your gift will make it possible for Healthy Acadia’s Recovery Resource Fund to continue removing barriers to recovery from substance use disorder by directly paying for items or services that support individuals like Jasmine in their journeys.

The Recovery Resource Fund is available on a case-by-case basis to community members working with a Healthy Acadia recovery coach.

“I had just gotten laid off from my previous job and had begun daily job searches. During one of these, I came across the Recovery Coach Coordinator position job opening. Having been in recovery for several years at this point, I was intrigued. Within two hours of applying for the position I received a call from Healthy Acadia and was asked if I could come in for an interview the very next day. I was so nervous at my interview. I was worried that I couldn't do this job because I was scared that the work would trigger me, so I stayed as far away from Substance Use Treatment work as I could. Two years later and I'm still here, and so incredibly thankful I stepped out of my comfort zone and took this job. It was meant to be. This is exactly where I belong.”
