Description: Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters™ classes provide a culinary enhanced nutrition education program that teaches participants how to prepare meals that are healthy, tasty and low in cost. Each lesson engages participants in hands-on meal preparation, practical nutrition tips and food budgeting skills. Goal: To provide participants with the knowledge and skills to make healthy food choices, as well as to prepare healthy meals and snacks on a limited budget. Highlights: • Lessons feature hands-on learning and include group discussions with fellow participants, a nutrition educator and a volunteer chef. • Tasty food samples are prepared by the chef and participants at each session. • Each participant receives a free recipe book upon completion of the program. • For the adult classes only, each participant receives a bag of groceries to prepare one recipe each week to prepare a meal at home. Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches (8:30 - 5 pm)

Maine Alliance for Recovery Coaching and Healthy Acadia are offering the CCAR 16-hour training as a 2-day course facilitated by Denise Black and Terri Woodruff, Trainers of CCAR’s Recovery Coach Model.

Ethics trainings are not all created equal. Recovery Coaches need an understanding of ethics that differs from those of clinicians due to their unique role while guiding someone through their own recovery process.

During the 2-day training, we will:
Understand what ethics are and why ethics are so important when performing Recovery Coach Services.
Learn how to stay in your lane as a Recovery Coach.
Understand the decision-making process.
Develop guidelines for making ethical decisions.
Apply the new learning to your everyday work as a Recovery Coach.

The Advisory Council meeting is an opportunity for us all to connect, learn about each other's work, and to engage in Healthy Acadia's strategic planning for the coming years, during which we will seek your input, guidance, and planning on key issues and questions. Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches (8:30 - 5 pm)

Maine Alliance for Recovery Coaching and Healthy Acadia are offering the CCAR 16-hour training as a 2-day course facilitated by Denise Black and Terri Woodruff, Trainers of CCAR’s Recovery Coach Model.

Ethics trainings are not all created equal. Recovery Coaches need an understanding of ethics that differs from those of clinicians due to their unique role while guiding someone through their own recovery process.

During the 2-day training, we will:
Understand what ethics are and why ethics are so important when performing Recovery Coach Services.
Learn how to stay in your lane as a Recovery Coach.
Understand the decision-making process.
Develop guidelines for making ethical decisions.
Apply the new learning to your everyday work as a Recovery Coach.

Downeast Care Givers Support Group for Caregivers and Ostomates (11 - 1 pm)

The Group meets monthly the last Friday of each month. Please come to Eastport Health Care Board Room Refreshments are provided. There is no charge to participants. Designed for caregivers who may be family of friends. This group provides an opportunity to learn, share, laugh and cry through the guidance of professionals and speakers who understand the importance of having somewhere to turn for assistance. Ostomy support group for ostomates and caregivers may also include people with an intestinal or urinary diversion or supporting someone with an ostomy, a loved one, friend or anyone wanting to learn about ostomies. Cooking Matters for Adults (6 - 8 pm)

Description: Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters™ classes provide a culinary enhanced nutrition education program that teaches participants how to prepare meals that are healthy, tasty and low in cost. Each lesson engages participants in hands-on meal preparation, practical nutrition tips and food budgeting skills. Goal: To provide participants with the knowledge and skills to make healthy food choices, as well as to prepare healthy meals and snacks on a limited budget. Highlights: • Lessons feature hands-on learning and include group discussions with fellow participants, a nutrition educator and a volunteer chef. • Tasty food samples are prepared by the chef and participants at each session. • Each participant receives a free recipe book upon completion of the program. • For the adult classes only, each participant receives a bag of groceries to prepare one recipe each week to prepare a meal at home.
