Welcome, Zach Turcotte
Please join us in welcoming Zachary Turcotte to the Healthy Acadia team!
Zach joins our Emergency Housing Supports Team as support staff for our seasonal overnight warming center, located at Healthy Acadia’s INSPIRE Recovery Community Center in Ellsworth.
Support staff at the seasonal overnight warming center provide a warm and welcoming place for guests and connect them to additional community resources such as food pantries, recovery coaching, warm clothing, and other social supports. Our team supports people by building trust, listening, and collaborating with community partners.
Zach, what prompted you to join the Healthy Acadia team?
As someone who has faced both addiction and homelessness & found recovery, I felt it was only fair to find work where I could give back what was given to me at a time when I needed support; love, respect, dignity, grace & and the opportunity to find resources to help me build a better life & future for myself.
What most inspires you about Healthy Acadia's work?
Knowing that I can provide a safe space & resources to people who are in the same situation I was once in. A number of people who need our resources have self-esteem issues and often feel unworthy. I'd like to be in the role of not only showing people who are struggling that they're no better or worse than anybody else but that recovery and success are possible when given the right tools.
What most inspires you on a personal level?
Seeing others succeed when given the correct tools & seeing the transformation to their life.
What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?
My favorite place to be is on the couch with my dog & a blanket, watching Holiday movies with my family/friends. I enjoy fishing with my dog Bella. 🐕 My family and friends are my biggest reason 'why' for everything I do. I'm in Recovery & when I'm not with my dog or my family, I enjoy helping others in Recovery!
