Welcome, Steven Tilney
Please join us in welcoming Steven Tilney II to the Healthy Acadia team!
Steven joins our Recovery Programs team as Youth Recovery Coach Coordinator through Healthy Acadia’s Maine Alliance for Recovery Coaching.
As the Youth Recovery Coach Coordinator for Washington and Hancock counties, Steven supports young people in their recovery journey. He connects with recovery coaches, participants, and community partners to provide resources and guidance for lasting recovery. Steven also helps ensure recovery coaches have the tools and support they need to assist youth. “I believe my role contributes to Healthy Acadia’s mission of promoting health and well-being in both counties.”
Steven holds a degree from Southern New Hampshire University and currently resides in Machias.
Steven, what prompted you to join the Healthy Acadia team?
Healthy Acadia has consistently been a visible and impactful presence within the Washington County community, so much so that time and time again I've seen their logo at the heart of various initiatives and programs focused on creating equitable outcomes for local residents — and I think that's truly remarkable!
What most inspires you about Healthy Acadia's work?
Healthy Acadia's dedication to ensuring equitable health opportunities for everyone in Washington County (and elsewhere). I’m especially excited to support the new Youth Recovery Coaching pilot, as it has the potential to empower and strengthen teens and young adults on their recovery journey!
What most inspires you on a personal level?
I’m motivated by the chance to promote equity and inclusion. Advocating for those whose voices are often overlooked, and working toward creating a more just and inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive is at my very core.
What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?
My favorite thing to do in Maine is spend time in the woods. Being in nature helps me feel grounded and at peace. The quiet beauty of Maine’s forests is essential to my well-being and gives me a sense of vulnerability not often found in this digital world.
Steven also has a soft spot for dogs - “I will absolutely ask to pet and give head scratches to your doggo!”
