Welcome, Rea Kerrigan
Please join us in welcoming Rea Kerrigan to the Healthy Acadia team!
Rea joins us as a recovery coach through our Maine Recovery Core internship program. Recovery Core Interns offer direct peer support and advocacy to improve recovery success among individuals facing substance use disorders. She holds an Associates Degree from the University of Maine (Augusta) and has significant experience in the health field, previously serving as a CNA, HHA, CRMA, and Behavioral Health Associate. Rea provides recovery coaching and recovery resource navigation in Hancock County through our INSPIRE Recovery Center.
Rea, what prompted you to join the Healthy Acadia team?
Healthy Acadia's reputation and the experience I had with Healthy Acadia before joining this organization. Plus my daughter and son thought it was a wonderful idea as they remembered how kindly we were treated by Healthy Acadia in our time of need.
What most inspires you about Healthy Acadia's work and your new role?
I am inspired by the empathy, hard work, and compassionate nature of how Healthy Acadia's associates go about helping those who they are tasked to assist.
What most inspires you on a personal level?
I am inspired by anyone who, no matter what they are going through on any given day, can still maintain a smile, kind work, or compassion for others.
What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?
My favorite place in Maine is anywhere with my kids, boyfriend, pets, and father-in-law in Maine. Happiness to me isn't a place but wherever I am surrounded by the people I love.
Rea is an artist and currently resides in Surry. In her spare time, she loves to read, watch movies, and go to the opera. “The violin is my favorite instrument, although I don't play. Violin music makes me so very happy. I am also a big fan of Bob Marley, Sade, Madonna, Cardi B, Niki Minaj, and Lady Gaga!”
