Welcome, Mat Alley

Please join us in welcoming Mat Alley to the Healthy Acadia team! 

Mat joins Healthy Acadia as a full-time Recovery Coach with Healthy Acadia’s Maine-ARC team in Hancock County. As a college student, Mat completed an internship with INSPIRE in 2025 and brings a wealth of experience, compassion, and dedication to the field of recovery support. Mat holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mental Health and Human Services with a concentration in addiction counseling from the University of Maine at Augusta.

Mat, what prompted you to join the Healthy Acadia team?

The way that Denise Black [Maine-ARC Co-Director] described this position to me made me very excited. I passed my CADC exam, and I was looking for a counseling job at the time. After I talked to Denise, I gave that up and cancelled the interviews I had scheduled because I believed that I could make a bigger impact here as a recovery coach.

What most inspires you about Healthy Acadia's work and your new role? 

The culture here is incredible. I've never worked somewhere that cared this much about me, my well-being, and my mental health. This is an incredible organization to work for.

What most inspires you on a personal level?

People’s success.

What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?

My favorite place to be is at the end of my road. There is family land at the end that opens up into basically a park. It has a beach with a 180-degree view of the water. I grew up there, and now I own a piece of it.

Mat lives in Hancock with his three children, Hailey, Tyler and Owen, as well as their blue-nose pit bull terrier, Willow, and kitten, Lily. Seven years ago, Mat lost his wife of 15 years to cancer.
