Kasandra, what prompted you to join the Healthy Acadia team?

As a person in recovery myself, I offer understanding and empowering support to the recoverees I serve and hope to continue to spread awareness of resources and support available to those suffering from substance use disorder within the Kennebec County area. I feel it's so important to give back to the communities and organizations that were available to me during my early recovery. I am passionate about helping people reach the best version of themselves at their own pace.

What most inspires you about Healthy Acadia's work?

Joining the team at Healthy Acadia will give me the opportunity to reach many people who are seeking support, together with my real-life experience in addiction and my education, I hope to be able to provide the best support possible to those we serve.

What most inspires you on a personal level?

Being in recovery and my journey to where I am today inspires me to work in the position I hold at Healthy Acadia. My mission is to touch the lives of those suffering from substance use disorder in the same way that my life was touched in early recovery. I am currently also a student pursuing my Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor credential. Securing that will give me the opportunity to work with those affected by substance use disorder on an impactful level within my community. I am looking forward to continuing to grow within my professional growth and personal recovery in the years to come!

What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?

I love the beach. My daughters and I spend a lot of time at the water, our families pool, or traveling the coast of Maine during the summer.

I am a mother to two beautiful teenage girls. They're my world and have supported me through every milestone I've reached up until now. My family is close knit and we spend a lot of time together. I love to travel and see new sites as often as possible!
