Welcome, Camisha Norris

Please join us in welcoming Camisha Norris to the Healthy Acadia team!

Camisha serves a dual role as Community Health Navigator and Community Health Coordinator. As a Community Health Coordinator, she provides youth engagement support, and tobacco and substance use prevention services throughout Washington County. As a Community Health Navigator, Camisha supports the implementation of a system of care navigation through the HRSA PROSPER Initiative, serving individuals with substance use disorder (SUD) and their children from pregnancy through age three, with a focus on the Passamaquoddy tribal communities of Sipayik (Pleasant Point) and Motahkomikuk (Indian Township). She provides key support and partnership to the PROSPER Community Health Navigation team, working together with Consortium members and other partners to develop referral systems, provide education and outreach about PROSPER, provide in-depth navigation services and care coordination for clients, and coordinate education, training, and support groups for families and the community.

Camisha holds an Associate Degree in Medical Assisting (Washington County Community College) and a Bachelor of Applied Science degree with a minor in Psychology (UMaine). She has served in communities across Downeast Maine as a Medical Assistant, Certified Family Support Specialist, K-12 Educator, and Health and Physical Education Teacher; and we are thrilled to welcome her to our team.

Camisha, what prompted you to join the Healthy Acadia team?

I decided to join Healthy Acadia to utilize my passion for public health and youth in a broader spectrum than teaching allows.

What most inspires you about Healthy Acadia's work?

Their drive and motivation to improve the health of our communities.

What most inspires you on a personal level?

My children inspire me to work hard for our community and give our youth all the opportunities they deserve.

What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?

I absolutely love being in the woods with my family. Every Mother’s Day, we go shed hunting [finding antlers that have been naturally shed by deer or moose], which is one of my favorite things to do. Other than that, summertime in Maine, and being on a lake is my paradise. Born in Sipayik, Camisha resides in Princeton with her family.
