Welcome Back, Mat Alley
Please join us in welcoming back Matthew (Mat) Alley to our Healthy Acadia team!
Mat previously served as part of the support team at our seasonal overnight warming center, and joins the staff team as a Recovery Coach in Hancock County. Mat earned a Bachelor of Science in Mental Health and Human Services, with a concentration in addiction counseling, from the University of Maine at Augusta.
Mat, what inspired you to join the Healthy Acadia team?
I felt I could make the biggest impact here compared with anywhere else. I wanted to be part of an organization where I could make a meaningful difference in people's lives and support people in our community.
What interests or inspires you most about Healthy Acadia’s work and your role?
I’m inspired by the passion of the people I work with and their commitment to helping people who are struggling with addiction. It’s meaningful to be part of a team that cares about supporting others and helping them move forward.
What inspires you most on a personal level?
Watching people recover inspires me most. Seeing people make progress and move toward a healthier life reminds me why this work matters.
What’s your favorite thing to do or place to visit in Maine, and why?
My favorite place is at the end of the road where my family lives. It feels like a park, with a 180-degree view of Taunton Bay. I love sitting by the water and watching the sunset. It’s a peaceful place where all my cares and worries seem to melt away.
Originally from Lamoine, Maine, Mat now lives in Hancock. Email Mat at mat.alley@healthyacadia.org.
