The Shadowcast Players Bring Cabaret to Trenton Grange — One Night Only!

Get ready for a night of bold entertainment as The Shadowcast Players present Cabaret on Friday, May 9, at 7 p.m. at the Trenton Grange.

Set in 1931 Berlin, Cabaret follows the story of American cabaret singer Sally Bowles (famously portrayed by Liza Minnelli) and her romance with British academic Brian Roberts (Michael York). Their tangled relationships—with each other and with the charming but dangerous playboy Maximillian Von Heune (Helmut Griem)—play out as the world around them shifts with the rise of the Nazi regime and the fall of the Weimar Republic.

This is no ordinary screening. Shadowcasts bring films to life with live actors performing before a projected movie, blending elements of drag, clowning, and physical theater. The Shadowcast Players—a dynamic troupe of young actors from Mount Desert Island and beyond—are known for their inclusive, outrageous, and affordable performances, often lighting up venues like the Criterion Theatre in Bar Harbor.

Tickets are just $10 at the door (cash or check only), and concessions will be available for purchase. Best of all, every dollar raised supports the Ellsworth and Bar Harbor Pride festivals.

All are welcome (please note that the film contains some mature content). Don’t miss this chance to experience Cabaret like never before—live, loud, and unapologetically fabulous. See you at the Grange!
