Summer Organizing Fellowship Downeast
Are you between the ages of 16 and 24 and living in Washington or Hancock County, Maine? Curious about how to make a real difference in your community? If you are new to activism and eager to explore the world of community organizing, the Summer Organizing Fellowship Downeast is for you!
Maine Youth Power and Healthy Acadia are teaming up to offer an exciting summer fellowship designed to empower young people like you. The fellowship is supported directly by staff at Healthy Acadia and Maine Youth Power and is co-designed with participants to tailor opportunities to fit the experience and interest of individuals.
As a fellow, you’ll:
Learn the basics of activism and community organizing
Explore career paths through hands-on experience
Work on real issues affecting local and state communities
Collaborate with other youth and experienced mentors
Help co-design the program to fit your interests and goals
This is a paid, 75-hour fellowship that includes a mix of in-person, virtual, and independent work. It’s funded through the Maine Career Exploration Program, which connects Maine employers with young people to build skills and strengthen our state’s future workforce.
