Frost Fair Returns to Moosehorn with a Full Schedule of Winter Fun
Baring, Maine — Healthy Acadia and Friends of Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge invite the community to the second annual Frost Fair: A Winter Wildlife Fun Day on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge headquarters in Baring. The free, all-ages event will be rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 14, in the event of rain or unsafe weather conditions.
A full schedule of activities is now available on the Healthy Acadia homepage at www.healthyacadia.org, where visitors can plan their day and see event updates. Some outdoor activities will be weather- and snow-dependent.
Highlights include a Snow Scamper run, walk, and snowshoe event to kick off the day; guided winter nature walks with a Maine Master Naturalist; hay rides; and a variety of self-guided outdoor activities, including snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sledding, and a winter wellness walk, conditions permitting. Families can also enjoy snowman and snow sculpture building, s’mores by the bonfire, and the Refuge Adventurer Challenge on the Raven Trail.
Indoor activities will be available throughout the day and include pinecone bird feeder making, wildlife fur displays, and opportunities to learn more about Healthy Acadia and Friends of Moosehorn. Free hot beverages, healthy snacks, and a limited lunch of chili and hot dogs will be offered while supplies last.
Admission is free, thanks in part to support from Versant Power and Cobscook Shores. Participants are encouraged to dress warmly to enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities.
