Pediatricians Share: What Parents Need to Know About the COVID-19 Vaccine for Children

The FDA recently authorized the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use among 5 to 11 year olds, and the CDC has recommended that children in this age group become fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

COVID-19 vaccines, including the Pfizer-BioNTech Vaccine for children ages 5 through 11 years, will be available at no cost to all eligible people living in the United States, regardless of insurance or immigration status. Children ages 5-11 years will receive a lower dose of the COVID-19 vaccine - equivalent to 1/3 the dose administered to adults and adolescents ages 12 years and older.

Health providers in Maine will begin offering COVID-19 vaccines for children ages 5-11 years as soon as possible. However, some parents may be seeking answers to their lingering questions about vaccinating their children against COVID-19.

Do you have questions about vaccinating your child against COVID-19? Join in this upcoming webinar event featuring Maine pediatricians who will share what they know about the COVID-19 vaccine for 5 to 11 year olds, and answer questions from participants.

This webinar will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. You can attend via Zoom and register at mecap.org/events to receive the webinar login information.
