Maine Recovery Core Program Expands Partnerships and Welcomes New Recovery Coach Interns in 2026
Healthy Acadia’s Maine Recovery Core (MRC) Recovery Coach Internship Program is off to a strong start in 2026. In the first months of the year, the program has welcomed new recovery coach interns, expanded partnerships, and continued strengthening recovery support services across Maine.
Maine Recovery Core helps train and place recovery coach interns at community organizations throughout the state. Recovery coaches provide non-clinical support to people navigating substance use recovery. They offer encouragement, share resources, and help individuals build connections that support long-term wellness.
New partnerships expand recovery support
One of the most exciting developments this year is the addition of two new host site partners in Augusta: ME-RAP Access Center and LifeLine For ME.
These partnerships expand opportunities for recovery coaching and help strengthen the network of support available to individuals and families working toward recovery.
Across Maine, MRC interns also serve with partner organizations including Bangor Area Recovery Network in Brewer, Maine-ARC in Machias, Safe Harbor, and Eastern Maine Development Corporation.
Welcoming new Recovery Coach Interns
Maine Recovery Core has already welcomed five new interns in 2026.
On Jan. 8, Rebecca Doughty joined the program and is serving with the Bangor Area Recovery Network in Brewer. Maranda Lovell was also onboarded that day and is serving with the ME-RAP Access Center in Augusta.
Three additional interns joined the program on Feb. 12:
Will Buehner, serving with Maine-ARC Offices of Recovery Coaching in Machias
Erica Reynolds, continuing her work with Safe Harbor in Machias after completing her internship with Eastern Maine Development Corporation
Sierra Barrows, serving with LifeLine For ME in Augusta
Each intern helps expand access to recovery support in their local community.
Strengthening recovery support across Maine
The continued growth of Maine Recovery Core reflects strong collaboration among organizations, communities, and people working in recovery across the state.
By training recovery coaches and placing them with trusted local partners, the program helps ensure that more people in Maine can access compassionate peer support when they need it.
