Free Transportation and Gas Cards Help Women Access October 29 Mobile Mammograms in Baileyville
Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center and community partners work together to remove transportation barriers
BAILEYVILLE, Maine — Free bus transportation from the Lubec area and ten $25 gas cards will help women access mammograms when Northern Light Mobile Mammography visits the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center, 163 Main Street in Baileyville, on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
The event brings together the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center, Northern Light Mobile Mammography, the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program, the Lubec Community Outreach Center, the FreeME Foundation, and transportation sponsor Pink Runway Project to bring breast cancer screening closer to home for women in Washington County.
For women living in rural communities, getting to a screening can involve a long drive, fuel expenses, or difficulty finding a ride. These partnerships aim to help women overcome those barriers.
Free Bus Transportation from Lubec
Through a partnership with the Lubec Community Outreach Center, with transportation sponsorship from Pink Runway Project, free bus transportation will be available for women traveling from the Lubec area to the Baileyville screening location. Women who need a ride should contact the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center in advance so transportation and appointment times can be coordinated.
Ten $25 Gas Cards Available
The FreeME Foundation is generously donating ten $25 gift cards to help with transportation costs. The first ten women to sign up will receive a card. Women seeking gas assistance should mention it when scheduling.
Help with Scheduling and Screening Assistance
The Center’s patient navigators and Clinical Coordinator, Debbie Pottle, RN, can assist women with scheduling appointments, coordinating transportation, and exploring eligibility for free screening through the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program.
Women are encouraged to reach out with questions or for help getting started. Community members, healthcare providers, and local organizations are also encouraged to share this opportunity with women who may benefit.
To arrange an appointment, request a bus ride, or ask about gas assistance, call 207-664-0339 or email info@bethwrightcancercenter.org. Or you can sign up by clicking the link: https://forms.gle/G2ktfYBEuVFXC2bNA
The Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center thanks the Lubec Community Outreach Center, Pink Runway Project, and the FreeME Foundation for helping make transportation assistance possible.
