Eastern Maine AHEC and Harrington Family Health Center to Host Scrub Club Career Exploration Day

HARRINGTON, Maine — Students entering grades 7 through 12 are invited to explore healthcare careers and gain hands-on experience at Scrub Club Career Exploration Day on Friday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Harrington Family Health Center, 50 East Main St.
Hosted by Eastern Maine AHEC and Harrington Family Health Center, Scrub Club is a free, one-day career exploration opportunity designed to introduce young people to healthcare skills, career pathways, and the people who make up the local healthcare workforce.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore healthcare skills, learn about different health professions, and meet local healthcare professionals. The event is designed to help students discover the many career possibilities available in healthcare and learn more about the education and training that can help them reach their goals.
“Early exposure to healthcare careers can help young people see themselves in the healthcare workforce and understand the many paths available to them,” said Maria Donahue, Eastern Maine AHEC Director. “Scrub Club gives students a chance to ask questions, try new skills, and connect with healthcare professionals in their own community.”
The event is free of charge, and lunch will be provided. Participants will also receive a $50 stipend to help compensate them for their travel and time.

Healthy Acadia has served as Maine’s Eastern Area Health Education Center (AHEC) since 2023.
