Earth Day, Everyday!

The SNAP-Ed Team encourages you to celebrate Earth Day everyday by learning more about your "foodprint"!"

“Your “foodprint” is the result of everything it takes to get your food from the farm to your plate.” By shopping, cooking, and eating sustainably we can reduce our foodprint and support a healthier planet!

A few quick tips to reduce your foodprint:

  • Shop at local markets when able, and buy fruits and vegetables that are in season.

  • Meal plan and shop with a list to reduce food waste at home.

  • Try adding leftover fruits and vegetables to things that may not usually call for them- get creative and reduce waste!

  • Eat more non-meat proteins, like beans or seeds, which require much less water and energy to produce.

  • Grow your own fruits and vegetables this summer for fresh veggies without the gasoline-intensive transport!
