Bar Harbor Bank Employees Support Safe Harbor

Thank you so much! Earlier this month, employees of Bar Harbor Bank and Trust voted to direct their third quarter, Casual for a Cause donation, totaling $3,200, to Safe Harbor Home for Women & Children.

“We are so pleased to be making this donation on behalf of all our Bar Harbor Bank & Trust employees in Maine,” said Jack Frost, VP, Director of Community Giving. “Your exceptional mission to provide a space for women to live and grow with their children while seeking recovery from substance use disorder is critical.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all of the engaged partners in this collaborative – Healthy Acadia, Downeast Community Partners, Community Caring Collaborative, and AMHC.  Thank you for your ever-present commitment to women and children in the region who are in need. We are honored to support your good work.”

Since 2018, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust employees have participated in Casual for a Cause by making donations throughout the year, while having the opportunity to wear casual attire on Fridays. To date, employees have made contributions totaling nearly $140,000.

"Thank you, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, for your generous gift to Safe Harbor,” said Katie Sell, Safe Harbor-Recovery Home for Women and Children Manager and Community Health Coordinator with Healthy Acadia.“We are thrilled to have your support. Through this donation, Safe Harbor will be able to continue supporting women and children by providing a safe and supportive home with resources to help women navigate challenges and decrease barriers to reach their goals. This donation will make a difference and we are extremely grateful!

The residents at Safe Harbor have been busy harvesting their garden’s bounty - including green and hot peppers and a variety of tomatoes - and are making salsa! Many thanks to our friends and partners at Community Caring Collaborative, Downeast Community Partners, and Heather Mawhinney and Regina Grabrovac for helping to make this garden a success - the residents have already begun next year’s garden layout!
