Direct Your Contribution with Donor-Advised Funds
Are you thinking of giving to Healthy Acadia? A donor-advised fund may be the right giving method for you!
A donor-advised fund allows donors to make a charitable contribution to a fund they specify, held at a sponsoring organization such as Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, Maine Community Foundation, or others, to receive an immediate tax deduction; and then to recommend grants from the fund over time. Healthy Acadia has been honored to be the recipient of a number of contributions from donor-advised funds.
One Healthy Acadia contributor who has supported our community health work through a donor-advised fund at Maine Community Foundation (MaineCF) shared, “I asked Hannah Whalen [of MaineCF] about organizations providing healthy food to the hungry and services to the elderly, and she recommended Healthy Acadia. I love the fact that [Healthy Acadia] brings in the young to “glean” crops, teach them about healthy nutrition, and inspire them to help the elderly and underprivileged.”
“The Maine Community Foundation’s mission is to work with donors and other partners to improve the quality of life for all Maine people,” said Hannah Whalen, Director of Philanthropy and Donor Services at Maine Community Foundation. “We are proud to be able to support the work of Healthy Acadia through donor-advised funds and grants from our Hancock and Washington County Funds and recently the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund. It is always gratifying when a donor decides to make a grant from their advised fund, as we know that funding is going out into the community where it will be put to good use by our nonprofit partners, like Healthy Acadia.”
Curious to learn more about donor-advised funds in general? Check out relevant foundation websites or ask a financial consultant for recommendations. If you have an existing donor advised fund, consider talking with your fund manager about making a gift in support of Healthy Acadia. We invite you to give to Healthy Acadia in whatever way works best for you, and send our sincere thanks for your support and partnership!
