Social Calls

While the COVID-19 pandemic has created many new challenges, it also offers opportunities for our community to come together in support of one another. Healthy Acadia’s Maine RecoveryCorps and MDI Hospital are partnering to respond to the isolation many community members are facing through a new Social Call service.

Social calls can be a welcome break from the isolation many are experiencing during this COVID-19 pandemic and offer an opportunity for connection and can serve to buffer the negative effects of physical distancing. These calls are not intended to replace an individual's need to connect with their mental health professional.

Social Calls are upon request by our trained Recovery Coaches. Their recovery coach training and background have steeped them in a culture of empathy, support, compassion, and resilience.  Our social call responders can help you to find needed resources and support services. They can simply provide a kind ear for those wanting to talk.

You may also connect with your health care provider who can submit a referral on your behalf.
