Senior FarmShare

The Maine Senior FarmShare Program, administered by the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry, provides low-income seniors an opportunity to receive a free share (worth $50) of top-quality, fresh, local produce at no cost directly from local Maine farmers during the growing season. The state program receives a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) which provides subsidies to farmers who provide deliveries of produce directly to seniors who enroll in the program.

Healthy Acadia plays a coordinating role in the Senior FarmShare Program by encouraging farmers across Hancock and Washington to participate in the program and recruiting seniors to sign up.
