Colorectal Cancer Screening Support Fund

Colorectal cancer starts as a polyp, or small collection of abnormal cells. Polyps do not cause any noticeable symptoms, but screening tests can find polyps so they may be removed before turning into cancer. Screening tests also help detect colorectal cancer earlier, when treatment works best. The CDC recommends regular colorectal cancer screening for all adults beginning at age 45, or earlier if recommended by your healthcare provider.

Our Colorectal Cancer Screening Support Fund (CCSSF) provides one-time, mini-grants to residents of Washington County, Maine, who need financial assistance to access colorectal screening tests - including fees associated with the test itself or transportation to access screening services - and for whom a one-time grant of up to $1,000 will ensure access to needed screening.

If you are aged 45 years or older and have no healthcare coverage, are underinsured, or face high co-pays or deductibles with your health insurance plan, our Colorectal Cancer Screening Support Fund (CCSSF) can help. The Fund provides mini-grants for Washington County residents who need financial assistance to access colorectal screening tests - including fees associated with the test itself or transportation to access screening services - and for whom a one-time grant of less than $1,000 will ensure access to needed screening.
