Hungry for Health

In 2016, Healthy Acadia launched the Hungry for Health campaign, in partnership with local restaurants and other food producing businesses to increase health for our region. Hungry for Health has featured various events and fundraisers at restaurants across our region to benefit a different community health need each year.

In 2020, due to COVID-19 restrictions, Healthy Acadia held to the spirit of this campaign, but with a new, exciting twist. We collaborated with eleven area restaurants to create the Downeast Hungry for Health Cookbook, which we shared as a gift with donors who contributed in support of programming that improves the wellbeing of older adults in our community, a population that was uniquely impacted by the health concerns and isolation of the pandemic. Our goal was to continue highlighting the significance of area restaurants as community partners while not asking them for financial giving in such a financially challenging year.

The cookbook is beautiful and will be fun to use! I will be cooking the recipes, and looking forward to when I can go out and try these meals at the restaurants as well!
