Community members are invited to join Healthy Acadia on Thursday, December 2, 2021, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., via Zoom for, "Why Wait?" with special guest Erik Jackson. The free online event is the ninth installment in Healthy Acadia’s Monthly Mindfulness series.
Think of the mindfulness tools that you have picked up throughout adulthood that have helped you navigate the events and emotions of life; through frustration, joy, sadness. How could similar tools help children to navigate their own paths? What are the benefits of building awareness and practice with these skills at an early age?
Slowing down both mind and body, particularly with breath, can increase awareness and decrease anxiety. Such tools can help children find peace and empowerment in daily life and support mental health as they grow. Through the use of games, stories, activities, yoga, breath work, and conversations all geared toward connecting to the present moment, using all five senses, and rooting ourselves with nature and one another, we believe children can begin building their mindfulness toolboxes at a very early age. Why wait until adulthood to seek out a practice of mindfulness?
