Gentle Mindful Movement (Qigong and Yoga) and Positive Psychology

Community members are invited to join Healthy Acadia on Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., via Zoom for, "Gentle Mindful Movement (Qigong and Yoga) and Positive Psychology," with special guest Susan Sassaman. The free online event is the latest installment in Healthy Acadia’s Monthly Mindfulness series.

Neuroscience research shows the connection between positive psychology and the health benefits of mindful movement classes. We can improve our health and cultivate happiness and well being by incorporating mindful movement practices such as qigong and yoga into our regular routine. Susan Sassaman will discuss how the ancient wisdom of combining breath and gentle movement can be transformative. Participants also will be invited to try a sampling of seated qigong and seated yoga postures.

In 2017, upon realizing the need in her community, Susan Sassaman created the Graceful Aging program: Therapeutic Movement Classes for Seniors. Susan has been offering yoga and dance classes and workshops in Vermont and Maine for 30 years. Her professional yoga teacher training includes Yoga for Cancer, Prenatal Yoga, Partner Yoga, Let Your Yoga Dance, and Let Your Yoga Dance for Seniors. She also is certified by the Tai Chi for Health Institute in Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention.

Pre-registration is required for this free event. To register and receive the Zoom link, go to bit.ly/mindful-3322.
