Healthy Acadia Offers Free Teen Theater Camps in Deer Isle and Bucksport
ELLSWORTH, Maine – Healthy Acadia is inviting young people ages 12 to 19 to explore theater, build confidence, and make new connections during two free Teen Theater Camps taking place this July in Deer Isle and Bucksport.
Led by theater professional and Healthy Acadia educator Andrew Simon, the camps will allow participants to rehearse, produce, and perform 21 Chump Street, a 15-minute musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Along the way, participants will strengthen acting, performance, communication, and collaboration skills while exploring complex topics such as healthy relationships, gender roles, and substance use through creative activities.
"Creative expression can be a powerful way for young people to build confidence, develop healthy relationships, and find a sense of belonging," said Simon. "Whether someone has years of theater experience or is stepping onto a stage for the first time, this camp offers a welcoming space to learn, grow, and have fun."
Participants will work together throughout the week and conclude the camp with a live performance for family, friends, and community members.
Healthy Acadia is offering two camp sessions in July:
