Free Screening of Acclaimed Documentary Film, OUR AMERICAN FAMILY, Set for March 1 in Calais
Calais, ME. Community members are invited to join Washington County Community College and Healthy Acadia on Friday, March 1, 2024, for a free screening of the acclaimed documentary, OUR AMERICAN FAMILY, followed by a panel discussion with a member of the family portrayed in the film. The event will be held at St. Croix Lecture Hall, Washington County Community College, One College Drive, Calais, Maine.
Addiction is an all-encompassing force not only in the lives of the afflicted but also those around them. Captured at a pivotal “nothing to lose” moment over the course of a year, OUR AMERICAN FAMILY is a radically honest portrait of five family members grappling with the legacy of generational addiction as they fight to heal resentments and pull each other out of the deepest depths.
OUR AMERICAN FAMILY (1 hour, 27 minutes) is a Twin Seas Media Production directed by Hallee Adelman (THE SOCIAL DILEMMA, WRITING WITH FIRE, US KIDS) and Sean King O-Grady.
Due to the sensitive nature of the subject matter, this event is recommended for individuals aged 16 and above.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and light refreshments will be provided. The film will begin at 5 p.m. and be immediately followed by the panel discussion at approximately 6:30 p.m. The first 50 attendees will receive a $5 Dunkin gift card, and all attendees will be entered into a random drawing to win a $50 gift card. Professionals from the recovery community will be available to provide recovery resource information and materials. The snow date for this event is March 22.
A remote joining option will be available for those who are unable to attend in person. Register online to receive the Zoom link to join remotely. Access the registration form using the link provided or scan the QR code: https://forms.gle/CQofSwumX9vwSP2R6
