Grassroots Organizer, Flavors Hook Kids Maine
Flavors Hook Kids Maine, a statewide coalition of 30 organizations representing thousands of Mainers, is seeking an independent consultant to serve as a Grassroots Organizer to lead regional efforts to end the sale of all flavored tobacco products in Maine. Reporting to the Field Director, the Grassroots Organizer would work closely with partner organizations to build public support for the successful passage of a statewide ban on flavored tobacco products.
Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
Execute contact efforts, such as one-on-one meetings, house parties, town halls, phone banks, and canvasses; recruit, develop, and train volunteer teams and leaders; support all levels of volunteer structure to develop organizing skills and build capacity; attend local events to recruit volunteers, spread our message, and build community relationships; amplify Flavors Hook Kids’message by creating online communities through social media; create digital analytics reporting structure across platforms, and build internal and external relationships to effectively achieve digital and campaign goals.
Required Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
Passion for issue; experience as a field organizer is preferred, but not required (applicants with rural organizing or digital/remote organizing experience are especially encouraged to apply); extensive relationship-building and volunteer management experience; working knowledge of and experience with VAN (desired, but not required); strong communication and organizational skills, ability to work independently, and manage multiple tasks; experience organizing and executing successful, engaging training; deadline and results-driven leader; ability to work effectively with regional and local leaders, and access to reliable transportation.

Community Education Assistant (CEA), Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) - UMaine Cooperative Extension, Washington County
The University of Maine Cooperative Extension Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) seeks a full-time Community Education Assistant (CEA) to serve low-income families and youth throughout Washington County, Maine. EFNEP has been delivered nationally since 1969. The CEA is responsible for delivering direct nutrition education to low-income adults with children, low-income young adults, and to low-income children in group settings in the community of Washington County.
