Healthy Acadia’s MRC (Maine Recovery Core) internship program is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team! This is an incredible opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career in behavioral health or giving back to others in meaningful ways.

Healthy Acadia’s MRC (Maine Recovery Core) program offers a unique, paid internship experience for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals ready to take the next step in their professional journey. MRC interns are trained as recovery coaches, working closely with people in recovery and their families to offer support, guidance, and resources. Through hands-on experience within their local communities, interns help individuals on their path to healthier, more fulfilling lives.

One of the many impactful community initiatives under offered through Healthy Acadia, the MRC program provides a rewarding experience designed to help interns achieve their professional goals. Interns gain valuable tools and skills to succeed in their future careers. Organizations across ten counties in northern and eastern Maine serve as host sites, including healthcare facilities, law enforcement agencies, correctional institutions, and community organizations. Interns work within these settings, providing direct peer support to individuals at different stages of recovery.

Interns in the MRC program benefit from:

  • Comprehensive training as recovery coaches

  • Mentorship and professional development opportunities

  • Hands-on public health experience and workplace immersion

  • Peer support and community engagement

  • Skill-building and leadership development

MRC interns play a vital role in improving recovery outcomes for those facing substance use disorders. By offering peer support, conducting community outreach, and developing recovery resources, interns actively contribute to building stronger, healthier communities.
