Post-Halloween Healthy Snacks

Halloween has come and gone, costumes are put away, and most of the sweet treats have been handed out. Despite any lingering candy in the house, you can balance those leftover Halloween treats with other wholesome snacks! Aim for snacks that include 2-3 different food groups, and try to limit the amount of candy you and your family eat in one day.

For a quick snack, check out this healthy hummus recipe from Maine SNAP-Ed. Hummus is so easy to make at home and contains a lot of great protein. If you’re still in the spooky spirit, you can use your homemade hummus to make “witches’ fingers” by dipping pretzel rods into hummus and studding the end with a pumpkin seed.

Want to try another great snack for the fall season. We are loving these baked apple chips! These slow-roasted apple slices have the fiber to fill you up and taste perfectly sweet thanks to the natural sugar found in apples. Top these “chips” with peanut butter for a snack that’ll stick with you all afternoon.
