Free Classes to Help Your Family Eat Healthy on a Budget

Kids love healthy food! Maine SNAP Nutrition Educator Shannon Cherry teamed up with the Maine Seacoast Mission to provide three weeks of cooking classes during EdGE Summer Camp at Rose M. Gaffney School in Machias.

Students in grades 3-9 learned how to prepare easy, healthy lunches, and enjoyed the results of their efforts! Want to learn ways to cook healthy meals for your family on a budget? Check out the opportunities below.

Option 1: 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.

Option 2: 11 a.m. - noon

Machias Hannaford

Join Shannon for a one-hour guided grocery store tour. Participants will learn how budget better while making healthy choices.  Participants receive a $10 Hannaford gift card!

Fridays, September 8, 15, 22, and 29, 2023

11 a.m. - noon

Porter Memorial Library, Machias

Join Shannon for four, one-hour weekly sessions where you’ll learn how to make healthy choices, using Myplate as a guide.  Participants will prepare and enjoy a healthy recipe at each class.  Upon completion of the class series, all participants will receive a free gift and cookbook!
