Building Health and Hope: Supporting Our Community Warming Center

Contributed by Sara Willett, Development Manager

We are still celebrating our 25th anniversary, and we have big goals for the future so we can keep making health happen for everyone across our region.

As we approach the end of the year, we invite you to build health and hope alongside us. One important way to do this is by helping us raise $1.5 million by Dec. 31 to address critical community health needs and support our goals for the future. You can learn more about the Health & Hope Campaign here.

Did you know that we operate a Warming Center? Since December 2022, with guidance and support from many local and state partners, we have offered a temporary, seasonal overnight warming center in downtown Ellsworth that serves both Hancock and Washington counties.

Our Warming Center provides a safe, nourishing, and potentially life-saving place to stay seven nights a week during Maine’s five-plus coldest months. It also connects guests with other resources to help them work toward housing, employment, and health goals, supporting improvements in their overall well-being.

More than ever, support is needed to keep the Warming Center open for the coming winter. Can you help us continue providing these important services to people in need? Your gift makes a real difference. Together, we can ensure that everyone has access to a safe, warm place to stay overnight during the coldest months of the year.
